Church Leadership The affairs of the church are directed by the elders working with the authority of the Church Members’ Meeting. Colin Stringer joined us as Pastor in September 2006, as our previous Pastor, Richard Underwood, began his new ministry as the General Secretary of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC) in November 2004. We currently have one elder, Ian Chambers, and a team of dedicated Deacons. Here’s a little more about us… |

Pastor ~ Colin Stringer Colin & his wife Anne, commenced their ministry @ SBC in September 2006. Colin was brought up in Norwich and his first Pastorate was at the Baptist Church in Attleborough, Norfolk. Prior to this he was Payroll Controller for Lotus Cars. For 10 years prior to commencing his ministry at Soham, Colin had been Pastor of Hailsham Free Church, East Sussex. Colin and Anne met whilst working with the 'Boys Brigade' and were married in 1985. They have three children; Martin (21), Elaine (16) and Amy (14). They both enjoy reading, music and walking in the countryside. Colin, of course, is a Norwich City supporter. There's no accounting for taste.. But then our last Pastor supported the 'Tractor Boys', AKA Ipswich. So things balance out! Colin has generously noted some of his favourite things for your information!: Food ~ Chilli Con Carne - though he also loves
Mexican Fajitas

Elder ~ Ian Chambers Ian and his wife, Sue, have been active members of SBC since 1974. They have four children - Jonathan, Joanne, David & Ben and far too many grandchildren to count! (OK there's 8!) Ian took early retirement from being a science teacher in 2005, but is still called upon to do supply. He would like to spend more time on his hobbies of electronics (mostly valves and bits of wire) and bookbinding!

Administrator (now retired) ~ Ted Wilson Ted has recently retired as Administrator (April 2008), having served in an official capacity for more years than any of us can remember (even him!) Iris is now looking forward to regaining use of the spare room, rather than having papers spread all over it! Ted and Iris have worked tirelessly for the Lord, and will no doubt continue to do so, for which the church is very grateful. |
